Purple is the theme for this week's Gothic Arches. Purple is the royal color, and I decided to use Abigail because she looks like a princess. The words "the princess who knows what is what" came from a book of fairy tales. As I was scanning the pages for text to use, that phrase popped out at me. I thought it was perfect.
I've discovered a way to make backgrounds that remind me of brocade like the purple with copper swirls above. Take a piece of scrapbook paper that has an interesting design. Stamp on it with metallic acrylic paint — I use Adirondack Dabbers. When the paint is dry, use color sprays like Color Mists to spray all over it. I used a mixture of Purple Haze and Cobalt Sky. The acrylic will resist the spray. The end result is very rich looking, and the design of the original paper barely shows, but it gives depth and variation of color. I did the same technique on the Gypsy arch.
Off to watch the Super Bowl! (I don't like football, but I love the commercials.) Ciao!
