My next page in the Skinny Book Round Robin is for Heather, whose theme is "Women Who Dared." This beautiful woman is my great great aunt Ella who was an Army nurse in World War I. I think she is worthy of the designation "a woman who dared" since she was a pioneer among women in the military.
The background is created from old documents sprayed with walnut ink or rubbed with distress ink. I used anaglypta wallpaper to create the flourish embellishments, and I really liked how they turned out. I used Adirondack Paint daubers in copper and juniper, and then I rubbed Walnut Stain distress ink over the top. I used a rubber stamp from B Line Designs to make the oval frame. I brushed beeswax over the entire surface and smoothed it with a tiny quilting iron. I love the way the wax encases the wallpaper cutouts and gives the piece an aged look.
I'm working on the opposite side of the page, so come back later to see it.
