Several of my friends are working on a collaborative illustrated dictionary in which they coin the words, and the words are art-related. I decided since it's been over a week since I've blogged, I would coin my own word for neglecting one's blog — bloglinquency: neglectful of attention to one's blog; delay in posting to one's blog. Antonym: blogsponsible.
It's been a very busy week. Last Wednesday, my friend Joyce came over to spend a few days with me. On Friday we joined several other friends for a nature study/art retreat south of here near Palmetto, Georgia. The location was called Serenbe, another coined word, which combines serenity and to be. Serenbe is an idyllic farm with flowers covering the landscape and herbs perfuming the air. (I designed the above logo for our weekend.) If that wasn't enough, we had art classes taught by Catherine Moore and meals that were superb. Throw in 8 of my dear friends and it was a perfect weeked.
This is my box from Catherine's nesting box class. All the classes were fabulous, but I think this is my favorite. (Not really a surprise since I love boxes and assemblages!) In addition to Catherine's sublime collage papers, I used one of my favorite PaperWhimsy images. Here are other views of the box.
I have to thank my sweet brother-in-law, Ken, for constructing my box to fit my drawer, which came from a purchased miniature chest of drawers. He also made 2 others — one for Laurie, my sister and his wife, and one for Joyce. Thanks, Ken!
Finally, here's a little friend who came out to pose for me. As I snapped the camera, he turned and posed like a super model.
Ciao!
